What We Do
Intelligence and capability for better outcomes
HTCS Research & Training provides two closely related services: research-based intelligence to support business decisions, and structured training programmes to develop professional and technical capabilities within client organisations. Both services share the same underlying philosophy — providing organisations with the knowledge and capability they need to perform better.
Our research practice covers market research, feasibility studies, and business intelligence — delivering analysis grounded in primary and secondary research methodologies, structured for decision-making, and communicated clearly to the stakeholders who need it. Our training practice develops and delivers professional programmes in areas aligned with HTCS's broader service expertise: IT, business operations, project management, and sector-specific technical skills.
HTCS Research & Training is suited to businesses exploring new markets or investment opportunities that need independent, data-backed feasibility analysis before committing capital. Strategy and leadership teams who need current market intelligence to support annual planning benefit from our research capability. Our training programmes are well suited to HR managers who need to build IT or operational capability within their teams without sourcing a specialist external trainer, and to organisations that have implemented new systems or processes and need structured support to bring their people up to speed. Research and training engagements can be standalone or integrated with HTCS consulting work — with research findings directly informing strategic recommendations.

Process
How a research or training engagement with HTCS works
Brief and objective setting
We define the research questions or training objectives precisely before any work begins. For research: what decisions will this output inform, and what level of confidence is required? For training: what capability gap are we closing, and how will success be measured?
Methodology or programme design
For research: we design the methodology — combining primary fieldwork (interviews, surveys, direct observation) with secondary analysis — and agree the approach before data collection begins. For training: we develop or adapt the programme curriculum to reflect the client's operational context, not a generic off-the-shelf template.
Fieldwork and delivery
Primary research is conducted with rigour — data is collected, verified, and analysed to the agreed standard. Training programmes are delivered in the agreed format: in-person sessions, on-site workshops, or structured blended learning — adapted to the audience and operational constraints of the client.
Findings and follow-through
Research findings are delivered in clear, decision-ready formats — executive summaries, data packs, and recommendation briefs rather than comprehensive documents that go unread. Training outcomes are evaluated post-delivery, with follow-up support available for ongoing capability reinforcement.
Why HTCS
Research and training that deliver real value
Actionable insight and practical capability — not comprehensive reports that nobody reads or training that doesn't connect to real work.
Research that drives decisions
Our research deliverables are structured for practical use by decision-makers. We focus on actionable insight, not comprehensive reports that nobody reads through.
Primary research capability
We conduct original primary research — surveys, interviews, field research — not just desk-based secondary synthesis. This produces more accurate, context-specific outputs.
Training linked to real operational context
Our training programmes are developed from HTCS's practical operational experience, not just theoretical frameworks. Content reflects how things actually work, not just how they're supposed to.
Integrated with other HTCS capabilities
Research findings can directly inform consulting engagements; training programmes can build the capability to execute consulting recommendations. The integration across HTCS services adds compounding value.
